Glad you are happy where you live in Michigan!

You seem a bit misinformed about living right on the lake on this side of the state. Lake Michigan is a moderating influence here.

I love storms! But strong summer storms are less than in the interior of the state. They fizzle right along the coast. Then redevelop 10 or more miles inland. So Grand Rapids can get them frequently… Grand Haven- not so much.

Same with lake effect snow… the bands build up several miles inland. Here on the sand we do get lots of wind, blowing sand and a little snow.

From my years of living in Portland Oregon, I got quite familiar with “micro climates”. It mattered quite a bit exactly where in the city you lived.

The county you live in over by Detroit you probably don’t experience much difference. But here… it matters.
