Then explain the World Happiness Report that has consistently ranked US happiness much higher than Spain? Sure, finally this year the US dropped to #20 worldwide… but Spain is much lower.

In previous reports the US basically only had the Nordic countries ahead of the US. I agree most US cities have big issues. But if you look at the long term demographics the US (and France) have relatively bright futures ahead.

I continue to believe you are comparing some occasional rotten US fruit to a cherry picked experience in Spain.

Still, I expect you to be honestly writing for years how great Spain has turned out for you. And I am very happy for you. Just… other people’s experiences will vary. Not everyone will be moving from LA to a beautiful hand picked city in Spain.

And I do disagree with your jaded opinion that most of the US sucks. From my experience living all across the US… overall it is still a great country.
